Terradine vs Etsy vs Shopify: what you actually keep
Every marketplace sounds cheap until the fees land. Put in your own price and see each fee line by line, including the ones that only show up after the sale: Etsy's Offsite Ads and Shopify's monthly bill.
One order, three receipts
Same buyer, same price on all three. The only difference is what each one takes before the money reaches you.

An ad you didn't buy, billed on a sale you might have made anyway
Etsy advertises listings on Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and other sites. If a shopper clicks one of those ads and buys from your shop within 30 days, Etsy takes an extra cut of the whole order on top of its normal fees.
- Rate
- 15% of the order (item and shipping) for shops under $10,000 a year in sales; 12% at $10,000 or more.
- Opting out
- Allowed only while you're under $10,000 in sales over the past 12 months. Above that, Offsite Ads are required.
- Cap
- $100 per order, which only matters on orders above about $667.
- Attribution
- Any purchase from your shop within 30 days of the click counts, including a different item, or a buyer who later found you another way.
- Your say
- You don't pick the listings, the ad, or the budget. You see the fee after the sale.
Everything else, at a glance
Fees are the US rates each company publishes. Terradine's are the same figures checkout charges.

Straight talk: when the others make sense
We'd rather you pick the right place than the wrong one. Here is where Etsy and Shopify win.
Etsy has the crowd
Etsy has millions of shoppers already searching. Terradine is a newer marketplace, so most sellers keep their Etsy shop and add Terradine beside it. Import your listings once and every sale here keeps more in your pocket.
Shopify wins at high volume
Shopify Basic's per-sale rate is lower than ours. Once one store sells more than about $765 a month ($569 on yearly billing), that difference pays for the $39 subscription, before apps. Below that, Terradine costs less, and there's no bill in a slow month.
Terradine fits most small shops
If you sell a few dozen items a month, hate paying for months with no sales, and want your fee to stay the same whoever sent the buyer, Terradine leaves you the most. Nothing to lose by trying: opening a shop is free.
Keep more of every sale
No card required. No monthly fee. You only pay when you sell.
